Ashanti Fashion Industry Network (AFIN) Executives Pay Courtesy Call on Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Fashion Industry Network (AFIN) has announced its Maiden Fashion Industry Stakeholders Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.

Themed “Weaving Creativity and Commerce: Advancing Sustainable Fashion for Tourism and Trade Excellence in Ghana,” the event is expected to convene leading stakeholders across the fashion value chain, alongside representatives from government and academia, to deliberate on strategies that will enhance innovation, sustainability, and economic growth within Ghana’s fashion sector.

Courtesy Call and Special Presentation

Ahead of the conference, AFIN paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene. During the visit, the Regional Minister was presented with premium apparel from the showroom of LovtyOne Clothing, a leading Ghanaian fashion brand.

The presentation was made by Alfred Kwaku Okyere Darko, CEO and Creative Director of LovtyOne Clothing and Interim Chairman of AFIN. The team also expressed their commitment to “clothe him through his tenure in office,” a gesture symbolizing both appreciation and partnership.

Minister’s Remarks and Endorsement

Hon. Dr. Amoakohene commended AFIN for its renewed vision and strategic direction, noting the potential of Ghana’s fashion industry to become a global reference point.

“With this renewed energy and clear strategic direction, I will not be surprised if the fashion team provides the first walkway for the Blackstar Experience, which His Excellency the President has promised to walk on,” he stated.

The Minister accepted the role of Patron of AFIN and pledged his full support, while also confirming his attendance at the upcoming conference.

Building Stronger Partnerships

The engagement concluded on a positive note, strengthening collaboration between AFIN and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council. With the Minister’s endorsement, AFIN is well-positioned to lead conversations on advancing sustainable fashion, promoting tourism, and boosting trade opportunities for Ghana’s creative industries.

This development marks an important step toward establishing the Ashanti Region as a hub for fashion excellence, innovation, and economic growth.
